Dental & Restorative Implants
Dental implants are one of the best ways to replace missing teeth or to secure a denture so that it doesn’t dislodge creating discomfort or embarrassment. The process can be either one of replacing a tooth immediately after its removal, or placed in areas of the jaws where teeth have been missing for a time. Implants are placed under the gums in the jawbone and they are allowed to heal so that the bone grabs the implant securely just like when a broken bone heals. This usually takes a few months and then the actual tooth or crown can be placed on the implant. When people have them placed for dentures, a type of snap is used over the implant so as to secure the denture but allow the patient to remove the denture for cleaning. An entire arch of teeth can be secured to multiple implants which cannot be removed by the patient but is hygienic and easily cleaned by them. This type of prosthesis is called a fixed bridge and is very comfortable and feels just like the patients natural teeth did. Implants are pain free, can’t get decayed, and are not prone to gum disease like natural teeth.
